Transcosmos Inc. (hereafter, transcosmos), St. Marianna University School of Medicine (hereafter, St. Marianna University School of Medicine), NTT Docomo, Inc. (hereafter, Docomo), and Kawasaki City will form a four-party consortium in 2021. From December 6th (Monday), we will start a demonstration experiment of emergency medical care using 5G (hereinafter, this demonstration) at the Critical Care Center of St. Marianna University Hospital (hereinafter, St. Marianna University Hospital) in Kawasaki City. This demonstration was selected as part of the "Development demonstration for the realization of problem-solving local 5G, etc." publicly offered by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications, and will be implemented.
In recent years, the demand for emergency medical care has increased rapidly due to the progress of population aging. This is an urgent issue in advancing the construction of medical care. In addition, it has been pointed out that the working hours of doctors tend to be long at medical institutions such as St. Marianna University Hospital, which accepts a large number of ambulances, and appropriate allocation of medical resources is required.
In order to solve these regional and emergency medical problems, we aim to improve the operational efficiency of emergency medical care and improve long working hours. We will build and demonstrate the following systems that enable real-time communication between doctors and hospitals through high-definition image transmission, transfer of large-capacity video data from medical equipment, and determination of treatment status using AI.
In the future, based on the results of this demonstration, the four-party consortium will consider further issues in system operation and solutions, and will implement full-scale introduction of the system to St. Marianna University Hospital. We will seek to maintain a system that can accept more patients, improve the work efficiency of medical staff, and improve the long working hours.
In addition, we will report the results confirmed by these efforts to the government and strive to reflect and disseminate them in regional medical care.
