The SVC200 is Sun Audio's preamplifier exclusively for tube line input, and it's a long-running product with kit specifications. This machine is a special specification for the 20th anniversary of its release, and appeared only as a finished product.
The biggest feature is the addition of balanced input/output terminals with a line transformer. The balanced input is Tamura's TD1, which is 600Ω 1:1, with two windings for each input and output. The output side is TD2, which is 10kΩ: 600Ω and has a center point tap for each input and output. In addition, the choke coil of the power supply section is also replaced with a Tamura large custom-made product. The resistor uses a lot of A & B carbon resistors. The output capacitor is a tin-foil-wrapped AudioCap. The power supply smoothing capacitor is a Sun Audio 500V metallized film capacitor. The rectifier tube is 6X4. The circuit is a simple one that directly connects the cathode follower to the single stage amplification by CV4068 of UK BRIMAR.
For the balanced connection, I tried the input from the SACD/CD player. Moist tendencies to draw dense and light and shade patterns stably. Moreover, it has a dignified style. When the volume is increased, the sense of scale gradually increases, and even with the sharp rumble of the piccolo, there is room for expression. With unbalanced input, you can get bright mid-high range and sharp responsiveness, suitable for recent wideband recording. Big band jazz and classical orchestras of yesteryear also have an energetic and dense texture. In addition, special specifications with a high degree of perfection that can be enjoyed with either input, such as the raw touch of the song.
