There are various theories and tips for installing car audio products. This series is trying to clarify the depth and fun of car audio while unraveling them one by one. From this time, we will enter a new chapter and explain the matters related to the installation of "speakers".
First, I will explain about "inner baffle". The "inner baffle" is a part that serves as a base for attaching a door speaker (midwoofer). When used in a noun, "baffle" means "partition wall", but in audio, it is a partition plate to prevent interference between the sound on the front side and the sound on the back side of the speaker. Point to. Alternatively, the mounting surface of the speaker is sometimes called a "baffle".
The "inner baffle" in car audio does not play a role in preventing the interference of sound waves on the front side and the back side. However, it serves as a "mounting surface". And since it is used inside the door panel, it has the vocabulary "inner".
So, the "inner baffle" is always used when installing a mid woofer. It is basically impossible for a midwoofer to be directly attached to the iron plate inside the door.
Let me explain why the "inner baffle" is essential. There are three main reasons. The first reason is that the screw holes do not fit. It is unlikely that the position of the screw on which the genuine speaker was mounted and the position of the screw hole on the frame of the speaker will match exactly. However, through the "inner baffle", you can receive screws to fix the speaker anywhere in the "inner baffle".
And the second reason this is essential is "because you can solidify your speaker's foothold." The iron plate inside the door is thin and unreliable to support the speaker. However, if you use the "inner baffle", the speaker will be more stable. If it stabilizes, the force generated by the magnetic circuit will not be lost and will be transmitted to the diaphragm of the speaker. Furthermore, the resonance of the iron plate due to the energy generated by the movement of the diaphragm of the speaker can be suppressed to some extent.
The third reason is "because you can start up the speaker". The clearance inside the door is narrow. Therefore, if it is attached directly to the iron plate, the back side of the speaker and the window glass that comes down tend to interfere. However, if you use the "inner baffle", the speaker will come out in front, so there will be more cases where you can prevent interference with the window glass.
For these reasons, some kind of "inner baffle" is always used when installing the midwoofer.
That's all for this time. Next time, I will explain various things about "inner baffle". looking forward to.
