A full-fledged soundproof room that uses plenty of Daiken building materials

“When I was a student, I lived in Tokyo, so I often went to the Masterpiece Theater and watched three movies. (laughs) That's why I always dreamed of building a movie theater at home." Mr. Nomura, the owner, says so. Of course, I am a cinephile who loves movies screened at masterpiece theaters, such as Japanese movies from the 80s that colored my youth and American movies from the 70s that I often watched at the time. On the other hand, he is a veteran of about 20 years of television theater history, including reading the magazine "Home Theater File", the predecessor of this magazine, for a long time.

It was in the autumn of 2018 that Nomura-san created a wonderful private room. With the aging of his parents, he seems to have renovated the entire house, and in order to make effective use of the empty room that was created at that time, it is said that he renovated the home theater.

4K 120-inch & 5.1.4ch Dolby Atmos

The room is about 11 tatami mats in size. The screen size is a full wall of 120 inches. The 4K resolution Sony "VPL-VW255" is used for the projector, and the speakers are compatible with Dolby Atmos with a 5.1.4ch configuration, realizing specifications that are comparable to those of theaters. Furthermore, we have completed a space that everyone envy, such as having a soundproof specification.

Renovation work was entrusted to Sumitomo Forestry Home Tech, which has a good reputation for wooden construction. While giving top priority to "soundproofing" to prevent sound from reaching my parents' room downstairs, I asked them to coordinate everything from wall storage for devices such as amplifiers to a minibar where you can drink alcohol.

We actually listened to the equipment and carefully selected it

On the other hand, we asked Mr. Masahiro Akashi of Avac Nagoya to install the home theater. Mr. Akashi worked out the plan first, and created the best piping instructions for the soundproof room. While actually viewing the equipment and referring to the evaluation of awards, we carefully decided one by one. At that time, it seems that the budget allocation was thickened for speakers that were not easily influenced by trends such as formats, and the overall balance was achieved.

"After all, movies are more fun with a larger screen. This was my first time purchasing a 4K projector, and I was surprised by the high resolution. It works well with works that use a lot of CG and VFX, but I also like watching DVDs and other works that I have a special affection for.The low-resolution images, on the other hand, have a film-like feel when I was watching them at the Masterpiece Theater, and I can enjoy them with nostalgia.” (Mr. Nomura). Enjoy movies without worrying about anyone else. Mr. Nomura's smile, which made such a long-standing dream come true, was truly radiant.
