When Microsoft announced the Xbox Sieries X | S, one of the loudly advertised features was support for Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos. But at that time, what Microsoft didn't explicitly advertise was that those features were exclusive contracts. According to an article temporarily posted by France's Xbox Wire and subsequently deleted, Xbox will be able to use Dolby Vision / Atmos exclusively in the console market for the next two years.
Xbox has been supporting these Dolby technologies in Insider's Alpha Ring since mid-May. Initially, there were some glitches, but with a compatible TV or monitor, users should be able to enjoy images that look even better than regular HDR video.
For Atmos, the Xbox Series X | S has been supported at an additional cost of $ 15 since its launch (similar to Xbox One and PC). Xbox wireless headset owners will also be able to use this stereophonic technology on their Xbox / PC at no additional cost until the end of September (free trial).
By the way, Xbox Series X | S rival PlayStstion 5 supports Dolby Atmos and DTS: X audio output for playing BD content such as movies, but it is a unique technology used for headphones / earphones for game play. It uses Tempest 3D Audio, and you can enjoy it if you have compatible software, but you cannot play PS5 games with stereophonic sound even if you have Atmos-compatible speaker devices.
At the time of the announcement, it seems that some people were sick of why the PS5's acoustic support looks so unnatural, but maybe Microsoft has taken the initiative in Sony to support Dolby on game consoles. Maybe it was because they had exclusive use.
However, Sony is also working on support for virtual stereophonic sound for PS5. The exclusive period of Xbox is said to be two years, but whether Sony's new sound support will come out by then, or whether Dolby technology support will come at the same time as the expiration date, Sony's object-based 3D audio technology 360 Reality There are some things that are of concern, including the trends in Audio.

* Correction: When it first appeared, it was stated that Xbox Series X | S supports Dolby Atmos for free, but it should be correct that an additional cost is required as with Xbox One. We apologize for the correction.
