――So I will ask you.First of all, which studio is the mastering this time?
GOH: It's my home studio.
――I think there were various formats from analog to digital, but did GOH digitize it?
GOH: First, I had a universal studio worked at 96kHz.Regarding the 48kHz sound source, I extended everything to 96kHz with another plugin, got those data from me, and started working from there.
――I think that the sound source with different sounds depending on that era was a sense of unity in this <2019 remastering>, or that kind of thing was done. What is making?
GOH: You want to reflect the charms that are included in the present era, or listen to the ears of the present era and listen to them with the current sound. What it means is that the edges are working to some extent. It's not a recent trend, but it's a bit distorted. But distorting is not an overlimiting, but with a little saturation or exciter. That is important in the current music. Is it a little rough texture? The old analog tape does not include such a sound because it is not made. It's really like a spice, but by adding such a thing, I devise a way to convey the same trend as other music.
--I see.
Of course, the original atmosphere is not lost. However, in my opinion, remastering is not just a restoration. It was natural to take noise and clean it, and I wanted to do something more through my ears.To Mr. Matsutoya -about once or once a month to Mr. Matsutoya -Listen and try this kind of approach. After that, I always listened to the current situation that I am working on with the CD that has already been released. The impression you think is important.
If you change too much, it can be completely different. But it feels like "new" to the extent that you don't understand.I think it's not frozen, but there is a "freshly recorded sound now".The new sound is something that sounds fresher the newer.Interesting.
――Are the direction of the mastering, were they all together?
Matsutoya: If I listen to the sound, that's OK (laughs)
Goh: But it was interesting because there were new discoveries.
Matsutoya: I think the relationship between the producer and the engineer has changed. In the past, engineers were a bit more technicians, but now the relationship between composers and arrangements is producer and engineer. So, from here, please arrange it.I just like or dislike it.
――When did you work?
GOH: From the "Space Library" (2016).
Matsutoya: I feel like I've been doing it for a long time, but it's not that long. However, after all, it was difficult to meet an engineer who is an arranger who can do that like that.
GOH: I'm really honored.
